SCT Logistics is Australias largest privately-owned rail operator and logistics Company, employing in excess of 1,000 staff and contractors nationally and servicing an enviable client base comprising of Australias largest FMCG Companies.

An exciting opportunity exists with one of Australias largest private rail companies to manage the BlueScope account on SCT behalf, this role is responsible for the safe and profitable delivery of BlueScope products within the parameters defined in the Rail Freight Distribution Agreement between the parties.

SCT Logistics is seeking a suitably experienced and qualified Account Manager with exceptional management and customer service skills.

Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer Rail, this role includes but not limited to the following responsibilities: - 

  • Achieve or exceed agreed contract KPIs set in the contract to ensure SCT profitability is maximized and customer service obligations are meet
  • Set budgets and manage costs to achieve profitable outcomes for SCT
  • Lead and participate in contract stipulated continuous improvement activities that achieves positive outcomes for both SCT and BlueScope
  • Lead and actively participate in the agreed Contract Management Process 

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate: - 

  • Good understanding of transport operations
  • Excellent negotiation skills with regard to uprating and seeking better value outcomes for the company
  • Understanding operational dynamic and service limitations with the ability to manage expectations of all stakeholders
  • Understanding financial results and reporting
  • Management of Profit & Loss for a business
  • Customer relationship management on a high dollar value account
  • A proven ability to lead, motivate and be effective in small teams
  • A proven track record in building internal and external relationships
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role
  • Experience in leading teams through the implementation and management of performance
  • review programs and processes
  • Planning and budgeting, cost monitoring and reporting.
  • Experience using SAP
  • Experience implementing new systems / process 


    Formal Management training that includes considerable successful practical application 


    Bachelors Degree in a Business or Commercial related stream
