Formed in 1992 following the amalgamation of three smaller community employment organisations, and then expanded with the merger of Continuing Education Bendigo in 2014 and Our Shed in 2015, Access Australia Group (AAG) has grown to what is today a large and diverse not-for-profit, community based organisation. About the role

The Deaf Hub is funded through the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) for a three-year period which ends on 30 June 2022. The Deaf Hub is auspiced by Access Australia Group.

The Deaf Hub connects people to the life they want to lead through ensuring better access, inclusion and equal opportunity. The Deaf Hub is a progressive community business and a leader in services to people who are Deaf, hard of hearing or who experience barriers to participation.

The Deaf Hub operates and provides services from PepperGreen Farm however programs are delivered in an outreach capacity to regional centres.

The role of Administration Support Officer will provide office administration and secretariat support to The Deaf Hub and the Advisory Committee.

Main Function

  • Provide office support including customer and employee support.
  • Keep well organised files and records of business activity.
  • Maintain computer bases, diaries and resource information current.
  • Interact with clients, consumers, volunteers and visitors to The Deaf Hub and manage their enquiries.
  • Undertake all administrative functions to deliver a quality and friendly service.
  • Provide secretariat support to The Deaf Hub Advisory Committee by:
    • Preparing agendas and sending out papers to members.
    • Organising meetings and booking venues.
    • Taking minutes and keeping accurate records of all Committee activities.
    • Ensuring actions are allocated and completed.
  • In conjunction with the Operations Manager - The Deaf Hub:
    • Prepare and finalise reports against the contract milestones.
    • Support the transition of governance arrangements to an incorporated body.
    • Liaise with AAGs Marketing and Grants Manager to plan and have approved all marketing, media and promotional activities. 
  • Actively contribute to the development of a culture consistent with the values of AAG.
  • Be proactive in risk identification, notification and management.
  • Contribute to continuous quality and service delivery improvement through the organisation.

Skills and experience



  1. Demonstrated proficiency in Auslan.
  2. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  3. Highly developed skills in structuring reports and minute taking.
  4. Exceptional organisational, time management and office administration skills.
  5. Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of services.
  6. Demonstrated problem solving skill with a high level of attention to detail.
  7. Capacity to multi-task and prioritise activities.
  8. Demonstrated commitment, alignment and role modelling of AAGs values.


  1. Willingness to undertake additional training as required and requested.

Appointment to the position is subject to a clear National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Worker Screening Check.
