Distribution Manager

The Grocer is a rapidly expanding and successful wholesale food distributor based in Canning Vale. We specialise in supplying the very best products to WAs leading foodservice and retail venues. We value our people; those we employ, those we choose to purchase from and those we supply.

As a result of our continued expansion, we require an experienced Distribution Manager to lead our team of warehouse staff and delivery drivers. We're looking for an energetic, self motivated person with excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure when required. The successful applicant will have administration and managerial skills as well as being willing to be hands on and lead by example. This role will be a mix of desk duties and physical warehouse work.

Reporting to the Director, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to;

  • Lead and oversee daily operations of the warehouse, including leading and mentoring the warehouse team.
  • Ensuring effective management of all deliveries to WA metro and country areas.
  • Ensuring quality control of all incoming goods and accompanying processing of paperwork.
  • Proactively manage the Occupational Health and Safety Standards and HACCP requirement within the business.
  • Management of regular stocktakes, stock rotation and accurate recording of all stock.
  • Overseeing general site maintenance including overseeing fleet, forklift and refrigeration maintenance.
  • Assist in the identification and implementation of a new WMS system.
  • Recommend improved operating policies and processes to reflect best practice.

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • A minimum of 5 years in the logistics industry with experience in a management position of a warehousing team.
  • Logical thinking skills in order to prioritise, time manage and can deal with pressure in a busy warehouse environment.
  • Strong people skills and experience managing diverse relationships.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated self-motivation with initiative.
  • Outstanding organisational skills.
  • Critical Analysis Skills.
  • Strong OHS skills.
  • Ability to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
