Traffic Officer

An opportunity is available for a highly motivated individual to work with one of our clients during this years crush as a Traffic Officer.

Our client is a leader in the sugar milling industry and is seeking a Traffic Officer to join their team.  This labour hire vacancy will involve clear and timely communication with and between the Locomotive crews, Maintenance crews to ensure safe discharge duties to ensure coordinate of crews.

To be considered for this role you must possess the following attributes:

  • C class drivers licence
  • Computer experience
  • Construction White Card
  • Sound numeracy & literacy skills
  • Physically fit
  • Able to work within a team environment & Possess good communication skills
  • Ability to identify problems quickly and suggest recommended improvement
  • Be safety conscious and quick thinking while working around machinery
  • Able to work to a rotating shift roster
  • Commitment to adhere to both RSM People's and the Host Employer's workplace health and safety procedures, policies and relevant statutory legislation.

Duties include:

  • Efficient and safe discharge of duties to ensure a supply of fresh cane to the regional mills
  • Control of the safe and efficient movement of track mounted vehicles, maintenance personnel and third party persons across the cane railway network
  • Perform prompt, timely, clear and relevant communication with and between Locomotive Crews, Line Maintenance Crews, Harvesting Operators, Growers Services Officers and other personnel regarding harvest and transport issues using a range of communications equipment including:
  • 2 way radios
  • Telephones
  • Facsimile
  • Email
  • Observe closely all performance, rates or production, equipment performance, quality control criteria and losses and report observations and record desired information in the log
  • Prepare, consider and distribute a range of administrative reports associated with the cane transport function
  • Supervision of timesheets and associated administrative tasks for cane transport personnel
  • Organise own daily activities to meet the agreed site maintenance and production targets

  • Coordinate activities of locomotive operators

     

During the crushing season you will be required to be available to work to a 7 day rotating roster and have the ability to use your initiative and quick thinking in order to reach the expected outcome.
