  • A number of casual position available
  • Orientation/ Start Date set for 19th March 2021
  • We encourage people with life skills to apply 
  • Flexible work hours, with the ability to work up to 38 hours per week.
  • Starting rate $28.38 (casual) per hour under SCHCADS Award pay and conditions for applicants without qualifications/experience or $34.18 for applicants with relevant qualifications/experience, plus superannuation and salary packaging.

In this role, you will be supporting our service users who have varying degrees of ability and as such, duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with daily living activities in the home and in community settings
  • Shopping and food preparation task
  • Supporting and enhancing their independence
  • Assisting with personal hygiene facilitation while maintaining their privacy and dignity.
  • Providing exceptional care such as mobility support
  • Supporting participation in social events and group activities and inspire connection to the community
  • Transportation and accompaniment to health appointments
  • Assisting service users to plan overall everyday life activities e.g social, health, finances.
  • Prior to the end of each shift, complete all necessary reports regarding the service users activities and progression towards their goal

Minimum Requirements:

  • A current NDIS Worker Screening (Yellow) card and Working with Children (Blue) card or eligible to apply
  • Current drivers license and own registered vehicle
  • Smart phone/device with internet access
  • First Aid & CPR certificate or willing to obtain
  • Genuine interest in helping others
  • Sound interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain composure
  • Sound written skills
  • Ability to adapt to diverse people and situations, in a calming manner

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A professional and caring attitude . Ideally we are looking for people to support our service users, not de skill them, but find out what motivates our service users to ensure they reach their individual goals.  
  • Willingness to build on your current skill set.
  • Excellent communication skills: We know, you hear this a lot, for us this means you need to be comfortable and confident operating a smart device and completing reporting requirements.
  • Interpersonal skills. You may be supporting people with a different communication ability such as being non-verbal. You may operate independently or in a team environment, completing a handover at the end of shift.
  • Willingness to work. Including overnight shifts, weekend shifts or fill in shifts where needed
  • Active listening skills. Listen to the participants wants & needs and respond appropriately and defer judgement.
  • Be flexible. We are about creating opportunities for services users, the way they choose.
  • Adheres to organisation policies and procedures and all relevant government legislation and standards, including workplace health, safety and wellness responsibility

HSA is a truly local, registered NDIS provider. We are a non-government, for-purpose organisation operating in the Rockhampton, Capricorn Coast and Mt Morgan areas. 

HSA originated as a local, grass-roots service through the work of people living in this community and driven by the needs of people living in this community and continues to operate under these principles today after 26 years of change and growth.
