Newstate Media, Publisher of the Canberra Weekly and Newcastle Weekly is seeking an experienced bookkeeper and administrator to fill this key role in the business.  Reporting directly to the Publisher, the Administration Manager has a high level of responsibility and autonomy.

The ideal applicant will have a minimum 5 years of relevant experience and have a professional understanding of all bookkeeping and administrative processes.


  • Reception duties, answer phones, maintain office supplies
  • Administration of Synergy booking system
  • Process payments, 
  • Weekly invoicing, debtor management and bill payments
  • Attend and report to management meeting
  • Payroll processing, including an understanding of NES, Awards, LSL etc
  • BAS/IAS lodgement
  • Account reconciliations

Selection Criteria

  1. At least five years experience in a similar role is essential
  2. Experience with MYOB or similar accounting software package is essential 
  3. Certificate IV in Bookkeeping or equivalent is an advantage
  4. Excellent computer skills intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills
  5. Experience in BAS and PAYG preparation and lodgement
  6. Experience managing debtors & creditors
  7. Experience processing payroll
  8. Excellent time management skills and a strong work ethic 
  9. Excellent organisational ability and attention to detail
  10. Excellent personal presentation and friendly phone manner 

Salary is negotiable dependent upon experience.
