*Remote Bogger Operators (CAT 1300 RCT Guidance)

*Charge-up Operators (carry WA Shotfirers license or willing to obtain)

MAKO Mining is a specialist underground mining contractor focused on safely delivering high productivity and professional results in all narrow vein mining applications. The Company has a track record of consistent safety and production, at all times meeting our clients expectations.

We have an opening for experienced Underground Operators to join the team. The position will require self-motivation, drive and multi- skilling. The ideal candidate will be pro-active, forward thinking, with a with strong ability to foster a culture of inspiration, innovation and collaboration across the team. This role is offered on a 2 weeks on 2 weeks off roster and is Fly in Fly out from Perth or DIDO from Kalgoorlie or Esperance.

About the Role

Reporting to the Project Manager, Foreman and Shift Supervisor being a critical member of the mining team, ensure quality work practices and production targets are achieved safely and actively encourage a positive culture. 

  • Regularly check your work areas for hazards and commit to healthy work practices and actively promote mine safety.
  • Carry out daily activities of underground tasks in accordance with relevant production & development schedules.
  • Meet targets, minimize costs and identify, review and implement process improvements.
  • Take on tasks according to your abilities and agree what is to be accomplished. Understand instructions & actively listen..
  • Report all workplace hazards and incidents to ensure effective risk mitigation.
  • Make sure workplace/area inspections and task observations are completed every shift in a timely manner.
  • Complete hand-over's before and after every shift.
  • Liaise through out and after every shift with the shift supervisor on the condition of your work area.

About You

You will be a self-motivated individual who possesses a can-do attitude and willingness to be part of a small and effective team. Your success is defined by your integrity, dedication, team approach and strong interactive abilities. You will have:

  • Extensive knowledge of practices and techniques applied in metalliferous underground mining, and Mine Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations.
  • Sound leadership skills, including ability to coach personnel beneath you, train, and influence the behavior of others through constructive feedback and positive reinforcement.
  • Methodical approach to completing tasks, detailed and organised, able to work autonomously.
  • Capacity to think laterally and work through obstacles with sound communication, both verbal and written.
  • Experience with working in production and development crews or operating in this environment (i.e. stope drilling, charging) an advantage.
  • Exposure to fast paced development and production teams.
  • Excellent customer service skills, able to build and maintain successful working relationships.
  • Respect and understanding of confidentiality.
  • Must provide a recent National police clearance (0-3 months)
  • Current and valid manual drivers licence.
  • St Johns Senior First Aid certificate.
  • Current DGSC.
