Our client has the tree planting process down to a fine art in order to make the process as efficient as possible. The verges have pre marked locations for where trees will be planted, where the mini excavator will dig precise holes (W:1.5m X L:1.5m X D:1.5m) which is followed by team members that will then plant the tree, insert soil, fertilizer and water in.
The Mini Excavator Operators role is a key in this project as the hole digging is the first stage in the tree planting process and ensuring that the holes are dug to the correct dimensions as well as within set times frames is vital as any delays in this stage will hold up the tree planting and watering stage.
It also very important that the Mini Excavator Operator is familiar with spotting potential hazards across numerous areas. Although the pre marked placements of the trees has been checked for underground utilities, this is never 100% and keeping an eye out for underground power, water, gas and telecommunications and ensuring you do not damage them is extremely important. There may also be large tree roots or rubble present, where having the skills to remove tricky items without damaging the excavator is essential.
In addition, you will be working in public areas and moving the excavator on street roads where you will be working with traffic management or spotters and keeping vigilant of these hazards is a key priority.
