We have an opportunity for you to join our team at Kerin Lawyers as a Legal Bookkeeper to the firm. The position will be on a permanent full-time basis.
Your attributes must include reliability, honesty and a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Applicants must be able to perform all the usual financial and accounting aspects associated with a law practice including but not limited to:
Trust and Office bookkeeping processes
Compliance with all trust accounting regulations
Preparation and handling of trust audits
EOM trust account closing and reconciliation of general bank accounts
Processing weekly wages and staff leave requirements and keeping up to date with award requirements
Superannuation and IAS, preparation of quarterly BAS, liaising with external accountant
All aspects of accounts receivable/payable
Liaising with IT provider
General administrative tasks as required
Assisting with billing enquiries
Skills and Experience
Previous experience in a law firm
Proven experience with most or all aspects of bookkeeping
Proficient skills in Office (word, excel and outlook)
Ability to learn new systems and procedures
General IT knowledge
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent time management and organisational skills
An ability to work independently as well as part of a team
The ability to work within tight deadlines
To be suitable for this role, you must have a minimum of 2 years' bookkeeping experience within a law firm. Trust accounting experience is essential.
We are a small but busy boutique law firm located in Brisbane CBD, established in 1994. Our team works collaboratively to enable the best outcome for our clients. The predominant work areas are Personal Injury, Litigation and Estate matters. Salary is negotiable, dependent upon experience.
