Payroll Officer Full Time or Part Time (0.8)

Tas Gas has an exciting opportunity for  an experienced Payroll Officer to join their team on a permanent Part time (.8FTE) or Full-time basis. Based in a central Launceston, you will be responsible for award interpretation, payroll calculations, being a central point of contact for questions across the business and ensuring the end to end payroll process is completed accurately.

This role is busy and diverse and includes the following key accountabilities:

  • Preparation and processing of fortnightly payroll including timesheet processing
  • Recording and reporting and distribution of employee entitlements
  • Payroll tax calculations, lodging and rebates
  • Lodgement of workers compensation initial claims and follow up, including wage and medical reimbursements
  • Preparation of superannuation returns (monthly) and payment
  • Preparation of monthly long service leave returns and quarterly and annually long service leave calculations
  • Processing of payroll deduction payments as required
  • Lodgement of IAS returns and PAYG reconciliations
  • Compliance with audits as required by external parties (auditors and the ATO)
  • Preparation of special payrolls including calculation of termination and redundancy payments as required and annual bonuses
  • Assist with employee enquiries
  • Preparation, reconciliation, distribution and lodgement of Annual Payment Summaries to ATO
  • Monthly reconciliation of all payroll general ledgers, journals and job allocation for all entities
  • Completion of all Australian Bureau of Statistics returns for all entities (Payroll and Business returns)
  • Fringe Benefits Tax, monitoring of car logs, entertainment and annual return lodgement information
  • NGERS reporting Collation of all emission reporting for all entities, preparation of all returns, submission to the parent company, reporting to CEO and other department managers and also auditors as required
  • Preparation of specific entity invoices and reconciliation of related expenditure

The Successful candidate Profile:

You will have at least 3-5 years previous experience working within a Payroll function. Your written and verbal communication skills will be highly developed, and you'll be an excellent team player. You'll have the proven ability to work autonomously and will enjoy a challenge and working to deadlines. Experience with Greentree is preferred but not an essential if you are a keen learner with the ability to pick up new software programs quickly.
