Our Client is a young and growing electricity retailer and developer of renewable energy generation assets. Owned by Australias largest wholesale supplier of solar products, their model uses generous feed-in tariffs, and promotes solar and energy storage options for households at affordable prices. They also distribute and operate integrated solar and energy storage technologies in partnership with their suppliers and customers.
Our client is looking for a Technical Lead-VPP technologies to work closely with both the CEO and COO to lead the companys expansion and growth in the Distributed Energy Resources revolution. As a core member at the forefront of the energy systems evolution, you will be an integral member of the senior leadership team.
Your main responsibilities will include:
Data capture, analysis and presentation of data from solar PV and battery storage systems, and wholesale electricity market data
Developing and executing lab and VPP-wide testings
Identifying feasible Virtual Power Plant (VPP) programs and initiatives for implementations into the energy systems
Evaluating VPP and community battery project opportunities, including preparation of EOI and responses to RFP
Providing technical demonstrations for registration of VPP into contingency and frequency control markets in the NEM
Liaising with DNSPs across different jurisdictions to propose project designs, including pre-contract energy modelling.
Assisting in the preparation of data for submissions to consultations (AEMC, AEMO, state government).
To be successful for this position, you should have:
Bachelor of electrical or electronic engineering, with previous experience in distributed energy and storage or with a DNSP highly regarded
Experience in working on cloud computing environments (MS Azure, AWS, Google Cloud)
Understanding of hardware and software interactions (Application Programming Interface)
Technical knowledge of electricity distribution and transmission systems including grid connections
Understanding of wholesale and retail electricity market regulatory requirements and processes (AER, AEMC, AEMO, state governments)
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, to manage time and prioritise workload effectively
It will be beneficial if you also have:
Previous experience in distributed energy and storage or with a DNSP
