As our Civil Engineer your tasks and responsibilities will be:

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Preparing plans, designs, and diagrams for construction work under the direction of senior civil engineers.
  • Interprets work assignment instructions and electing and obtaining tools & equipment
  • Analyzing data and using computational tools to study the data
  • Preparation of Plans and estimating preliminary cost of the project
  • Inspecting and implementing of civil engineering projects, organizing the delivery of materials, supervising the construction, maintaining and repair work
  • Conversant with Relevant Australian Standards / Codes for Structural and Civil Engineering Design / Drawing
  • Using AutoCAD and Microstation software to produce civil/track detailed drawings, including functional layouts
  • Set up civil/track drawings including the design model file, cross sections, HA/VA alignment, formation, drainage etc. for light and/or heavy rail
  • Producing reports and actively involved in SiD and risk assessments
  • Understanding of electrical sectionalising diagrams
  • Producing civil detailed drawings for undergrounding feeder cables 
  • Preparing material list 
  • Supporting the engineering & management team 
  • Attending site visit and collecting data for design and drafting purposes
  • Comply with VRIOGS & PTV drafting standards and collecting data from PassAsset 
  • Site verification and plotting MOCS 
  • Uploading AIS drawings to DMS
  • Preparing and updating design checklists 
  • Attending internal/external meeting and workshops
  • Training junior staff and knowledge sharing


Essential skills 

  • Understanding of Tramway track & Civil works
  • Knowledge of Bentley Rail Track & MicroStation and an understanding of Tramway requirements will be highly regarded 
  • Knowledge of Melbourne railway standards 
  • Understanding of current PTV & VRIOGS standards and ability to collect railway data from PassAsset 
  • Competent in MS office Suit  
  • Understanding of the Overhead wiring principal to be able to produce layouts is advantage


Qualification & Experience

Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering, Min of 2+ years experience in tramway / railway industry.

Highly regarded Local tramway experience is an advantage
