With exciting things ahead for Harrup Park and the Great Barrier Reef Arena, our grounds team is growing.
A rare opportunity exists for a Grounds Person to become an integral member of our Grounds Team.
We have played host to many first-class matches including AFLW, WBBL, A - Series matches and U17 Cricket Australia, State Championships and with the Great Barrier Reef Arena breaking ground this year, there is much for Harrup Park to look forward to.
As a Grounds person you will be trained in a variety of duties including, but not limited to those listed below.
Duties performed will include:
Preparation and maintenance of sporting fields and turf wicket facilities
Application of fertilisers and pesticides
Machinery maintenance and logbook recording
Field maintenance using commercial grade equipment
Irrigation of fields and gardens
Assisting in maintaining fields, gardens, and the broader Harrup Park facility
The successful candidate will have:
A keen interest in maintaining sporting and other outdoor facilities of the Club
A strong work ethic and interest in working outdoors
Physical fitness and stamina
Sound written and oral communication skills
Basic numeracy skills
Manual "C" class drivers licence or ability to obtain one
A willingness to learn and apply new knowledge
Flexibility with hours of work including some weekends
An interest or passion for the sports of cricket and AFL is desirable due to the nature of content hosted at the Great Barrier Reef Arena, and the opportunity develop a career would be available for the right applicant.
