About the role
The Government Engagement specialist will provide professional support to the Project Marinus Team by ensuring that the deliverables are achieved in line with project timelines. Providing development and support of an intergovernmental communication strategy will be achieved by scheduling and coordination of engagement activities and materials with government departments, energy sector regulatory and advisory bodies, and Ministerial offices in Tasmania, Victoria and nationally. The Specialist is responsible for providing expert advice and guidance to the project on best practice government communication and engagement methods. Delivering regular reporting on the effectiveness of communication and government engagement activities will lead to effective recommendations for improvement.
About the Business
At TasNetworks, we own, operate and maintain the electricity transmission and distribution networks in Tasmania, together with a supporting telecommunications network. We deliver a safe, cost-effective and reliable electricity supply to more than 285,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers in Tasmania. We also provide a connection to the Basslink undersea interconnector, and our network supports energy supply to customers in the broader National Electricity Market.
The National Electricity Market is transforming as new renewable energy generation infrastructure replaces ageing thermal generation. Marinus Link and supporting transmission upgrades can support this transition by providing access to a low-cost, clean and reliable energy supply for customers. Project Marinus comprises the proposed Marinus Link high voltage direct current electricity interconnector and the supporting transmission in North West Tasmania; collectively valued at over $3.5 billion
Marinus Link is a proposed 1500 megawatt capacity undersea and underground electricity interconnection to more strongly link the Tasmanian and Victorian transmission networks, enabled by new and upgraded transmission assets in North West Tasmania. Marinus Link will also strengthen telecommunications service provision across Bass Strait. Marinus Link and supporting transmission developments can play a key role in Australias future electricity grid, as the largest proposed infrastructure project in Tasmanias history.
As an exceptional communicator at all levels, you will have demonstrated experience of in providing extensive advice to senior management on regulatory and political influence. Working across multiple Government Departments and regulatory bodies, you will demonstrate the highest levels of confidentiality, diplomacy and probity with the ability to manage crisis and reputational management where required. Your strong stakeholder management skills including the ability to influence at a high level will lead to establishing effective relationships across multiple channels. As a highly organized and self-motivated professional, you will demonstrate strong ability to deal with shifting priorities and operate in an environment subject to uncertainty and scrutiny.
