Mechanical Technician (Shift)

MSM Milling is Australia's leading family-owned integrated oilseed crushing, refining, packing and feed milling facility based in Manildra, a short drive from Orange in the heart of the NSW canola growing region. We are currently undergoing major growth through expansion to new domestic and export markets and as such we are looking for a Mechanical Technician to join our team.

This role works within the team of fitters and maintenance staff to ensure that machinery and mechanical equipment are well maintained in accordance with operating standards, health and safety regulations, practices, and legislation.

Responsibilities include:

• Work within the maintenance team in conjunction with Maintenance Manager
• Develop processes and procedures to ensure that planned & emergency maintenance is undertaken in a timely and efficient manner
• Maximise plant up-time by identifying potential areas of failure
• Oversee the installation and maintenance of all relevant plant & equipment
• Plan, schedule and oversee routine service of equipment according to budgets and production schedules, in conjunction with management
• Approve repairs/replacement of equipment
• Undertake quality control inspections
• Maintain a store of equipment parts & consumables to ensure good risk management is in place so production downtime is minimised
• Identify resources required to run the plant in a safe and effective manner

Key skills & experience required:

• Mechanical Trade qualifications (Fitter, boilermaker, welder, etc)
• Extensive post-trade experience and knowledge in the maintenance and operations of plant machinery and equipment.
• Ability to lead a team to continuously improve its performance and establish processes 
• Demonstrated ability to initiate continuous improvement processes
• Knowledge of legislation and regulations governing the workplace
• Ability to work under pressure, prioritise projects, and process multiple tasks as required within the time constraints 
• Excellent oral and written communications skills including the ability to convey information in an effective and concise manner and prepare and present reports
