FIELD DIESEL MECHANIC

Reporting to the Operations Supervisor and Mechanical Supervisor, the Mobile Diesel Mechanic is an integral part of KRSP’s field operations team. You will undertake cyclic servicing and maintenance of power, water, wastewater and water treatment plant and equipment which provide essential services to remote Aboriginal communities.
In this role you will work closely with other trades personnel for up to 3 weeks and it is essential that you enjoy long drives on open roads.
Key responsibilities of the role:
- Provide trade services skills in mechanical repair, maintenance on various equipment
- Participate in fault finding and failure diagnosis
- Attend to emergency breakdown repairs
- Identify and report preventative maintenance items during planned service
- Complete necessary electronic and manual documentation
- Service and maintain Diesel Generators varying from 20kw to 500kw
- Check assess and maintain various water and sewer pumps
- Check assess and repair water treatment systems
This role provides the opportunity to work on a wide variety of different equipment and infrastructure with comprehensive on-the-ground training provided to the right applicant. We are seeking an experienced and motivated diesel mechanic who can work unsupervised, has a proven track record of achieving results in a mechanical position, is comfortable working remotely and frequently in isolation. Your ability to demonstrate a high work ethic, integrity, and safe work practices together with your positive mindset in dealing with work and people will be highly regarded.
To be successful in this role you require:
- mechanical trade qualification
- experience with pumps, chlorine, and water treatment
- first aid qualifications
- white card
- current HR driver’s license
Experience with plant and equipment, earthmoving equipment, and trucks would be an advantage but is not essential. Location
The role will operate on a Drive-In / Drive-Out basis from Broome to remote Aboriginal Communities in the Kimberley. Accommodation is provided by the Company when traveling for work purposes.
Local Kimberley residents are encouraged to apply as are candidates who are interested in relocating to the Broome region. Fly-In / Fly-Out rosters are also offered for candidates located outside of the Kimberley region. BENEFITS
