Founded in 1912, The Western Australian Farmers Federation (Inc) (WAFarmers) is the largest and most influential agricultural advocacy group in Western Australia. WAFarmers represents the voice of farmers throughout Western Australia and is continually working towards a more viable, profitable, and sustainable future for the agricultural industry. 

We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Administrative Assistant to join our small but highly skilled team on a part time basis. Your working week will see you working 21hrs a week, preferably  Mon/Wed/Fri, however the ability to be flexible is highly regarded. Reporting to the Corporate Operations Manager, this position would ideally suit an individual who is a self starter and not afraid to use their own initiative in identifying tasks that are required to be completed.

About the role

This is a varied role that provides motivated candidates with a range of highly sought after administration skills to allow for further career advancement. The role description is outlined below:

The Administrative Assistant will:

  • be a pleasant, reliable and consistent presence at our office, who has the ability to provide information both over the phone, via electronic communication and in person to members and stakeholders during the stated working hours
  • maintain and update Customer Relation Management (CRM) systems of both organisations
  • provide assistance in event planning including liaising and booking venues and suppliers
  • assist with design work associated with, newsletters, websites, and media content
  • assist with the preparation of reports, accounts and other documents
  • assist with travel arrangements, including booking flights and accommodation
  • ability to help with data entry for accounting software - desired but not essential
  • mail collection, banking and other ad-hoc duties
  • provide administrative support for special projects as necessary
  • understand and respect confidentiality and personal data at all times.

Skills and experience

The following attributes would suggest a candidate will both enjoy and succeed in this role:

  • proficiency in the use of common office technology software
  • demonstrated experience with design software ie Canva or PhotoShop
  • previous experience in accounts payable/receivable - desirable
  • clear, confident and thoughtful communication
  • a pleasant, pro-active and flexible attitude toward work and colleagues
  • an understanding of and support for, the role of farmers in our society
  • a willingness to make and acknowledge mistakes
  • a personality that enjoys working on big agendas within a small, passionate team
