Cermak Peterka Petersen Pty. Ltd. (CPP) is a leading global wind engineering consultancy specialising in wind tunnel testing of large-scale building structures. We have a growing office in Sydney and are looking to appoint an enthusiastic project engineer to work within our engineering office and wind tunnel laboratory.
Education and Experience
Tertiary qualifications with excellent academic record in civil, wind, or environmental engineering.
At least 2 years experience in engineering consulting, including experience in report writing, and technical proposal writing and project management within the wind engineering and/or environmental engineering industries
Assist in preparation, running and management of wind tunnel experiments and subsequent data analysis.
Manage projects and liaise with clients.
Work with technical instrumentation within the lab.
Assist in the maintenance and development of instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
Prepare reports, presentations and technical documents relating to the above activities.
Review and interpret tender documents to understand project requirements and establish and implement bid effective methodologies and submission requirements.
Work with teams and individuals within the consultancy to compile proposal specifics and content.
Assist in development of software tools and analysis codes to aid the above activities.
Provide support to workshop and laboratory staff and senior engineers.
Support construction of detailed scale models, typically building models of cities.
Requirements for the role:
Desire and skills to work in a consulting environment, typically on short term projects and liaising directly with clients.
Basic knowledge of experimental wind tunnel testing techniques and CFD simulation.
Excellent technical writing skills.
Good knowledge of computer programming and experience with Labview or Matlab programming languages. Advanced skills in these packages will be looked on favourably.
Basic knowledge of CAD systems, particularly any experience with AutoCAD, Solidworks, or Creo Parametric (formerly ProEngineer).
Excellent general computer skills.
Ability to work in a highly collaborative team.
Basic Workshop and/or laboratory experience including data acquisition.
Ability to read technical drawings.
Work within Occupational Health and Safety practices.
Remuneration of between $55,000 to $65,000pa, plus superannuation will be awarded for this full-time position depending on skills, experience, and qualifications.
