Yard Man / Trade Assistant

Lo Pilato Bros is a well-established & large supplier of landscaping products to residential/commercial builders & consumers in the ACT. 

What we are looking for:

An experienced and hardworking yard person & trade assistant to join our team at our Landscape Supplies yard, located in Hume ACT. 

Applicants to have great customer service skills, experience in operating loaders and forklift, both small and large to load vehicles from box trailers to Truck & Dogs.

Applicant must also have screening experience, as we operate a screening plant at the yard; as well as be familiar with or able to learn to mix materials for our landscape products; and be able to prepare bulk bags of material.

This role provides a great opportunity to learn about landscaping products and use your loader and forklift skills. 

The role also includes providing assistance to our mechanic for servicing of our truck fleet and requires someone with knowledge and familiarity with using tools.  

Lo Pilato Bros is an established company, offering good rates and opportunities to progress.   Hours are Monday to Friday with Saturdays included.

This is a dynamic role, with many different tasks needed to keep the yard operational and our truck fleet well serviced.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work safely and responsibly as part of a team
• Provide excellent customer service
• Collect and load products using a forklift, loader or safe manual techniques
• Handle heavy loads (20 kg bags)
• Prepare bulk bags for dispatch
• Multi task and prioritise in a busy environment
• Meet output targets and understand production schedules
• Troubleshoot problems and show initiative
• Keep our yard clean and safe
• Be punctual, well presented and show a proactive 'can do' attitude
• Check fuel supplies
• Check Bulk Bag supplies
• Assist mechanic with servicing of truck fleet and machinery as required

 Skills and Experience:

• Forklift licence essential
• Good understanding of WH&S
• Use of tools and some mechanical knowledge
• A motivated self-starter
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment
• Team player and good communicator
• Strong attention to detail
• Be physically fit
