The Policy and Research Manager role is a senior positon within the Whitlam Institute working closely with the Director, the Institute Manager and other members of the management team in the strategic development and management of the Whitlam Institute. The position will be critical to the next stage of the Whitlam Institute’s development, which will be focused on enhancing its policy research and impact.
The Policy and Research Manager will, in consultation with the Director and Institute Manager supported by a Policy and Research Officer, be responsible for building a strong institutional framework and team to develop the Institute’s policy research direction, engagement, networks, fellows and research products. They will lead the policy and media outreach for the research and will drive the Institute’s research strategy and projects while managing the delivery of its research reports. The position will also analyse, interpret and communicate data and reports and develop policy positions in relation to key policy priorities.
With a primary focus on developing and implementing a policy and research program to support the contemporary relevance of the Whitlam policy agenda, the position works closely with the Director to drive the evidence and advocacy agenda for the Whitlam Institute, including government relations. The position plays a key role in developing the Institute’s policy engagement in the broader national debate. It ensures the Institute’s policy positions are based on combined experience and the best evidence available while producing high quality research, reports and publications with a goal to influence policy and identify opportunities for broader engagement.
This is a full-time, ongoing position based at the Parramatta South campus.
Remuneration Package: HEW Level 8 $120,879 to $134,189 p.a. (comprising Salary of $102,144 to $113,391 p.a., plus Superannuation and Leave Loading).
