The purpose of the shared services model is to provide the Schools with high quality business and customer service, whilst ensuring continuous delivery and effective and efficient use of resources.
We are currently inviting applications for the newly created role of:
Assistant Director Business and Operations
The Assistant Director Business and Operations provides ultimate support for all aspects of the Director Business and Operations role. The role provides effective operational and strategic leadership across both St Margarets and St Aidans in all aspects of the Finance, Operations, Risk Management and Compliance.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Overseeing and coordinating Risk Management across both schools, providing guidance to risk owners to ensure effective processes, controls and reporting are in place.
- Overseeing all aspects of Business, Finance and Facilities at both schools.
- Providing leadership support and guidance to the Business Manager Finance, Business Manager Operations and Compliance and Operations Manager.
- Management of Legal, Statutory and Regulatory Compliance such as ACNC, ASIC, NSSAB, Trademarks and reviewing contractual arrangements.
- Recruiting, managing, and developing staff.
- Assisting the Director of Business and Operations with management of capital works and master planning.
- Participating in development and implementation of non-capital projects.
- Chairing or participate in working groups and committees, as required.
- Attending Finance, Audit and Risk Management Committee meetings.
- Attending Building & Grounds Committee meetings.
- Deputising for the Director - Business and Operations as required.
This role represents a rare career opportunity for an experienced Finance and Business management professional looking for the next step in their career, where they can utilise their expertise to lead a team committed to continually strengthening business outcomes. The role requires a high level of leadership and autonomy, whilst balancing this with a close working relationship with the Director Business and Operations based on exceptional teamwork, knowledge and trust.
You will bring with you a wealth of knowledge and experience in managing a medium-sized business. Whilst experience in the education sector would be valuable it is not essential; however, it is essential that you have the ability to quickly gain relevant knowledge about the commercial operating requirements of a school. Previous experience and knowledge of Governance and Company Secretary responsibilities would be advantageous.
The environment is diverse, and this role will play a key part in the smooth operation of both schools ensuring compliance, best practice and on-going business viability. You will possess a proactive approach to problem solving and seek, at all times outcomes which improve the workplace. Whilst much of the role will require your presence in the day-to-day operational requirements of the schools, you will have the ability to think strategically and have a future focus.
You will possess well-developed team leadership skills and the ability to bring out the best in those you work with. The role works with a variety of stakeholders across the business and it is expected the successful candidate will possess the ability to build strong relationships with others, building a high level of trust and engagement through the quality of your work and people skills.
This is a full-time role and will initially be offered on a 5 year fixed term contract. An extension to this contract may be considered at the conclusion of this initial contract. It is expected the successful candidate will work across both St Aidans Anglican Girls School (Corinda) and St Margarets Anglican Girls School (Ascot).
