The Role: Researching the history of heritage places. Liaising with community and landowners and managers around the listing and ongoing management of heritage places. Preparing assessments of heritage places and progressing State Heritage Register listings, and Aboriginal place listings under the NPW Act. Preparing reports for the NSW Heritage Council and committees, and for the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Advisory Committee. Contributing to forward planning for the management of heritage places. Addressing a wide range of inquiries related to HNSW business under the Heritage Act 1977 and NPW Act, preparing briefings and correspondence. Administration is using relevant databases and record-keeping systems.
Essential Skills: -Familiarity with the Heritage Act or NPW Act - Ability to work autonomously - Project Management experience - Good record-keeping skills
Must have undergraduate degree in heritage studies/history/archaeology or allied discipline.
Previous experience working in heritage field required.
Excellent written and oral communication skills required. Candidate who identifies as Aboriginal person an advantage.
