The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service is a not-for-profit organisation providing world class aeromedical, search and rescue services to those in need 24/7. The Service has more than 40 years of proud history, and now operates from three bases in NSW (Tamworth, Belmont, Lismore) in addition to a Head Office and deep level maintenance facility based in Broadmeadow NSW.
We are currently looking to recruit an Aviation Life Support Equipment Officer to join our highly motivated Operations team. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this role is responsible for the management, inspection, maintenance and repair of role and survival equipment in accordance with manufacturer and CASA requirements. Located in either Broadmeadow, Lismore or Tamworth, travel to other bases will be required on a regular basis.
Develop and manage role and survival equipment inspection schedules across all bases and conduct maintenance and repairs in accordance with manufacturer and CASA requirements.
Liaise with external specialists where required to ensure qualified repairs in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
Establish and maintain effective systems for recording and monitoring role and survival equipment and complete the necessary documentation for rectification work.
Apply proficient trimming capabilities in the manufacture and maintenance of operational equipment including storage bags and GSE covers.
Produce reports for the Engineering Manager and Operations Manager as required.
Communicate effectively with key stakeholders and maintain a positive working environment through a commitment to the Services values of compassion, unity, accountability and integrity.
Demonstrate and promote a positive and proactive attitude toward safety, quality and environmental standards.
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Certificate III Aircraft Life Support & Furnishing or Certificate IV in Aeronautical Life Support Equipment
Minimum 5 years experience as a Life Support Equipment Officer in the aviation industry, preferably HEMS, including inspection, service and repair of stretchers, harnesses, wander leads, strops, ARV, CRC, straps, EPIRB, life jackets, life rafts, tag lines, helmets, hi line.
Proven attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
Intermediate computer skills. (including Air Maestro, PowerPoint, Word and Excel skills)
Current Australian drivers licence.
Whilst not essential, Certificate IV Aeroskills or similar, general aircraft maintenance experience, understanding of the Civil Aviation Regulations and Human Factors and EBS training would be highly regarded.
This position is identified Category A/Category A - High Risk in accordance with NSW Healths framework for the assessment, screening and vaccination of workers to minimise the risk of transmission of vaccine-preventable diseases. As such, it is an essential requirement of this position that you comply with the Services policies relating to Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases, including the provision of evidence of protection.
