RIGCOM is a height safety, rope access and technical rigging services company, specialising in wind turbine blade maintenance across Australia. The company is seeking an experienced Composites Blade Engineer to support its growing numbers of repair technicians and training within its GWO certified Blade Training Centre.

This new position will be focused primarily on wind turbine blade engineering inspection and repair support. This role will support the existing blade assets for our key clients in the Australian market and aid in operational execution of projects in both new and existing wind farms locally and overseas.

Over time, the role will require the successful candidate to assist in up-skilling internal and external blade repair technicians through training delivery to the GWO standards for blade repair in our state-of-the-art training facility.

Duties and skills for the role:

• Develop new and amend existing work instructions for blade repairs to be used on site for a variety of manufacturer blade types, including integral, spar/shell and web blades;
• A background in training or a willingness to support a training presence within our GWO training facility and obtain relevant qualifications, paid for by the company will be required;
• Knowledge of the HSE requirements for work in Australia;
• Perform blade repair report writing and quality reviews including the preparation of lamination plans for complex repairs;
• Support of repair crews while performing complex repairs;
• Perform regular evaluations of quality of blade repairs done performed by internal teams;
• Develop and improve existing inspection, repair and due diligence processes.
• Provide support for the continuing improvement of organisational quality process and governance documentation;
• Assist in new material and repair technology development/Identification 

Minimum requirements for the role:

• At least 5 years of operational experience in wind farms in an engineering/trade position specifically focused on composites;
• A degree in aerospace or composites engineering or related technical field preferred;
• Demonstrated experience in blade damage assessment and experience across multiple manufactures. Previous direct employment with a wind turbine Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) is considered an advantage;
• Possess the core competencies required to access, inspect and perform repair on significant structural blade damage (ie CAT III and above).

Although the head office location is in Sydney, the ability to travel to remote sites to assess damage and oversee repair works in person is deemed essential.
