Construction Project Manager - Granny Flat and Residential Property

About the position:

In order to cope with new projects and expansion of our company, we are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced construction project manager to join our team on a full-time basis.

The responsibilities of the role will be to manage and oversee whole building projects including quoting, planning, procuring skills and materials, ensuring adherence to legislated requirements, and that each project is completed within expected timeframe and budget.

The job is based in Greater Sydney, with potential for projects in regional NSW or elsewhere in Australia.


The duties will include:

  • Preparing quotes for Facebook and Website enquirers and client referrals and negotiating contracts for accepted quotes;
  • Liaising with outsourced and in-house architects to interpret drawings, specifications, and the Building Code of Australia;
  • Submitting plans for Complying Development Certificates and Development Approvals;
  • Liaising with surveyors, designers, engineers, suppliers, carpenters, concreters, plumbers, electricians, bricklayers, roof layers, painters, tilers, cabinet makers, and the like and negotiating and arranging for all required contracts to be lawfully in place prior to commencement of works;
  • Creating work programmes for each site;
  • Co-ordinating the excavation operations and ordering portable toilets, temporary fencing, concrete, frames, roof, windows, bricks, cladding, tiles, kitchens, gyprock, PC items, appliances, and the like for timely delivery and within budget;
  • Implementing work programmes and making any required adjustments for unexpected events during the project;
  • Canvassing enquiries of each property owner on a day to day basis, and keeping them informed of the works progress and any budgetary or timeframe issues;
  • Arranging for a private certifier to ensure the works are meeting required standards at every stage and overseeing each project to ensure they are progressing on time and within budget;
  • Arranging building inspections by local authorities wherever required

Remuneration per annum: $100,000 plus superannuation


About the qualifications and skills required: 

  • Bachelor Degree qualifications; 
  • Management skills, 
  • Multi-tasking with good communication and negotiation skills, 
  • At least 3 years experience in residential construction project management
