Modus is looking for a strong and passionate Financial Controller to join our team based at our head office in Cronulla. Reporting directly to the CFO you will develop and lead a high performing team, provide strategic financial recommendations, champion our governance and control environment and work alongside the Directors & Executive Management Team to fuel the business to exceed its strategic ambitions with analysis that drives the business forward.
This role has accountability for monitoring financial performance, and ensuring the CFO & Directors have immediate visibility over any material discrepancy. By creating new and managing existing operational reporting you will ensure that the business has a robust understanding of its performance and the Executive Management Team is armed with all the information it needs to make sound decisions.
Your Expertise & Responsibilities
Our ideal candidate will be CPA or CA qualified with at least 8 years' finance and accounting experience.You are either currently in a senior finance role or are an experienced manager making your first move out of a Big 4 or mid-tier accounting firm. You are highly analytical, have strong attention to detail, and a demonstrated problem-solving ability. You enjoy coaching, leading and developing teams and have proven you are able to develop long term relationships with internal & external stakeholders. You will have the ability to take ownership of tasks, providing robust reasoning and quality decision making. More specifically, your role will include, but will not be restricted to:
Work with the CFO to develop & support the achievement of objectives & goals of the business.
Management, training and development to create and sustain a highly engaged team.
Accountable for month end close, and related reporting.
Manage relationships with department heads regarding their period end closing responsibilities.
Implement continuous process improvements across the team and reporting process.
Manage the financial operations of the business, ensuring accurate data recording and timely & accurate balance sheet reconciliations.
Lead the annual audit process, being the main point of contact for external auditors.
Champion the internal control and governance environment, drafting policies and assisting in their implementation. Continuously review and enhance existing controls.
Own our ERP and operations system, which includes the development and roll out of training for other users in the business.
Lead the operational relationship with our bank, which includes processing new, monitoring existing, and releasing expired bank guarantees.
Develop and maintain relationships with key internal & external stakeholders.
Work closely with the Company Directors, Executive Management Team & Business Analyst.
