The Narrabri Courier is a progressive, independent, bi-weekly newspaper and website servicing the rural town of Narrabri and surrounding community. Narrabri is situated on the Northwest slopes and plains of NSW, approximately 2 hours west of Tamworth. It is a friendly town with a proactive business community boasting a rich and diverse economy.


The person we are searching for is a bright, energetic, organised and mature-thinking individual who will be responsible for consulting and working with business and industry to create effective advertising campaigns for publication in the The Courier newspaper and its website

Strategic thinking is a key part of this role since it is the Advertising Consultant's responsibility to develop and maintain a pipeline of new and existing business through prospecting, lead generation and the presentation of advertising ideas and solutions to business owners and managers.

If you enjoy selling, are highly motivated, able to work autonomously and as a member of a small team, this could be the job for you.

Key responsibilities:

  • Plan, prospect and conduct professional sales calls to achieve advertising sales targets.
  • Identify advertising opportunities and generate leads that result in new business.
  • Attend client meetings and conduct sales presentations that result in forward bookings.
  • Negotiate advertising campaign packages and placement.
  • Complete administration and follow-through to finalisation of advertising bookings.
  • Excellent customer service and ethical client interactions.
  • Professional written and verbal communication with clients and stakeholders.
  • Sustained development and growth of client, community, and industry relationships.
  • Prompt response to client inquiries, questions, or concerns.

Skills and Experience:

  • Proven sales abilities and results
  • Demonstrated sales success within media advertising, account management, or business to business sales, will be highly regarded
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality customer service and building effective long-term business relationships.
  • Ability to be proactive and show initiative.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Close attention to detail.
  • Ability to learn quickly, manage change, multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Highly competent computer  skills using Microsoft applications
  • A valid driver's licence.

The position is full-time preferably, but this could be negotiated with the right applicant.
