Sales Engineer - Infrastructure

Skylar is a safety services business specialising in safety training to the wind industry. Our head office is located in Melbourne with rapidly expanding offices in South Australia, New South Wales, and Vietnam.

Continued growth in infrastructure has opened up new opportunities, we are now seeking a Business Development Specialist who shares our vision and has a passion for facilitating growth and expansion.

The Business Development position's primary mandate is to drive growth in key infrastructure markets, predominantly energy and telecommunications (construction and service) sectors. The role can be based in our Melbourne offices and reports directly to our Director.

Successful candidates will have a proved track record in business development, a working knowledge of safety services, training and infrastructure construction.
You will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following:

  • Develop new business opportunities, client relationships, and revenue streams;
  • Develop growth strategies and plans, by identifying and mapping business strengths and customer needs.
  • Manage CRM data and pipelines pro-actively;
  • Work closely with Marketing to develop effective B2B collateral and activities that suit your objectives;
  • Proactively develop and grow the Safety training/ services for Skylar to meet forward strategic plans and objectives.

We are looking for someone who has the following:

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a B2B role with business development targets.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) to handle various customer and stakeholder groups, with a strength in building lasting values aligned relationships and rapport.
  • Demonstrated organisational and time management skills and the ability to handle various and multiple functions simultaneously, including the ability to prioritise tasks and work to deadlines.
  • Proven IT skills in Microsoft Word, databases and Excel, with the ability to learn other software systems (especially our CRM system) as required.
  • Strong analytical skills with focus on holistic (whole-of-business-level) problem solving
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment whilst demonstrating the ability to work independently and to use initiative.
