LarnOO Agricultural Investments P/L (LarnOO) are looking for a Stock-person to join our Family owned Angus breeding operation.

 LarnOO is 3,100ha of river flats, undulating pasture and native bush land delivering an exceptional environment for growing grass-fed angus for local and international markets.

  • Set on the Goulburn amongst the gentle hills just 15 mins from Yea, Victoria.
  • LarnOO benefits from considerable HR water security on the Goulburn River.
  • The property currently runs a 1,650 Angus breeders and stud cows, rising numbers as pastures improve.

A position is available for the right person to join the experienced team to grow and continuously improve this outstanding farm.

Safety is a key aspect of LarnOOs operations, as is the new fencing, laneways, irrigation and pumping infrastructure that has been completed.

LarnOO has state-of-the-art cattle handling facilities (ProWay) necessary for stress less livestock management and safety of its team, and a modern well maintained fleet of farming equipment.

To be successful for this role, the applicant must have experience with stock work for cattle.

The applicant must be able to work in a team environment and perform general farm hand duties including:

  • Assist in the day to day management for all the farming and maintenance operations of LarnOO.
  • Assist in achieving the production and development goals for the herd and operations.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with the Farm and Livestock managers and Directors of LarnOO.
  • You will have a hands on role across all on farm activities and responsibilities in our Spring breeding herd.

Key Duties and Responsibilities include:

Livestock

  • Assist the farm manager with grazing rotations (MaiaGrazing App)
  • Assist with the Pregnancy Testing and A.I. program
  • Maintain high quality quarantine, health and animal welfare
  • LarnOO adopts low stress cattle handling principles
  • Demonstrate competent general animal husbandry skills, monitor animal health and report any concerns

Farm Development / Repair and Maintenance 

  • Carry out visual checks on pumps, troughs, pipelines, fences etc and perform minor repairs.
  • Carry out basic repair and general maintenance of plant and equipment.
  • Perform daily routine checks, adjustments and maintenance of station vehicles.
  • Maintain all fences for the control of livestock
  • Carry out pasture renovation and production of silage incl. fertiliser programs
  • Maintain Water reticulation systems, and manage the river flat irrigations (multiple Bauer Reels)
  • Must be capable of general farm repairs and maintenance including fencing , and general plant and equipment
  • Must treat LarnOOs tools, equipment and vehicles with care and respect.
  • Ensure the farm is fire ready with firefighting equipment maintained and primed in place.
  • The role also includes grounds maintenance including mowing, mulching, spraying, to keep the property assets in neat and tidy condition at all times..not gardening! ( completed by external contractors)

 We need someone to join our friendly experienced team who is honest, reliable, has a strong work ethic, and must be willing to take direction and work independently.

  • Work commencement in Feb 2021, or before for the right person.
  • Accommodation on-farm in a standalone two bedroom house is available (Ladshack)
  • Current unrestricted car license is required
  • First Aid training would be useful, training can be provided
