Koiop Connect was established in response to local community demand for supportive and culturally respectful disability support services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Hunter and Western regions.

Drawing upon our passion and lived experiences of disability, Koiop Connect focuses on community and family involvement to provide a greater quality of life to their clients.

We are currently accepting applications for a Trainee Administration Assistant to join our fast-paced, rapidly expanding organisation based in our Head Office in Newcastle, NSW. The trainee will also have a willingness to undertake a Certificate III in Business Administration commencing in 2021.

As our receptionist/administration assistant you will be the first point of contact for stakeholders engaging with Koiop operations and visiting our Head Office, so maintaining a positive and friendly company image is essential. It is very important to make sure the Management Team has total trust in your ability to assist and cooperate with Head Office teams and to make sure your friendly disposition shines through.

Reliability and friendliness are essential to this role.

Essential requirements to be considered for the role:

  • A current Working with Children Check (WWCC)
  • A current National Police Check (NPC) with no offences within the last 5 years 
  • A current and valid drivers license with reliable transport
  • Confirmation of Aboriginality

To be successful in this role, the desired candidate will possess the following skills:

  1. Strong time management skills .
  2. Strong ability or experience in supporting a high performing team
  3. High degree of professionalism and judgement, with the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. 
  4. Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate and liaise effectively and sensitively at all levels, both internally and externally.
  5. Ability to balance conflicting priorities with capacity to meet deadlines.
  6. Advanced knowledge and experience in MS Office Suite including Sharepoint, Excel and PowerPoint, electronic filing systems and diary management via Outlook.
  7. Ability to support productive relationships; with a demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and independently and with people at all levels.
