X1 Position in the North West, x2 Positions in the South, Great Opportunity.
About the role
Our asset management strategy focuses on ensuring that the replacement of assets is determined objectively, by asset condition and risk assessment; rather than simply age. With that in mind, we have created a new role for a qualified electrician to join our Field Operations Team. Working autonomously across the State, the role is responsible for gathering data on all our transformer and substations earthing systems. Testing and assessing the functional performance of our earthing systems is performed on a regular basis. The testing is predominately on overhead assets, and is performed year round. The assets are spread across the state, so there will be an element of travel required. You will be responsible for performing the electrical tests, assessing the results, and determining corrective actions and priorities.
About the Business
At TasNetworks, we own, operate and maintain the electricity transmission and distribution network in Tasmania. We deliver a safe, efficient and reliable electricity supply to more than 285,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers.
Marinus Link is a proposed 1500 megawatt capacity undersea and underground electricity connection to link Tasmania and Victoria, supported by transmission upgrades as part of Australias future electricity grid. The National Electricity Market is redefining as new energy generation infrastructure replaces ageing infrastructure. Marinus Link and supporting transmission upgrades can help smooth this transition by providing access to a low-cost clean and reliable energy supply for customers!
To be successful in this role, you are required to hold Cert III in Electrotechnology. With strong focus on safety and risk mitigation, you will have excellent problem solving skills. High attention to details will enable you to provide effective asset condition reports, whilst flexibility in your approach will enable you to work on repetitive tasks.
Testing is performed in pairs, in locations all-round the state, as part of a wider delivery group. A collaborative working style will be essential. There are minimal positions around the state, therefore willingness to travel and work away from home is highly regarded.
