About the role
The Civil Estimating Manager is to lead the estimating team members to ensure the accuracy & competitiveness of the tendered price as well as to provide technical advice into tenders. This leadership and technical input are across a portfolio of concurrent infrastructure tenders that can include challenging transport or mine infrastructure projects; airport upgrades and multi-billion-dollar PPP projects.
This is a Northern region focussed role, based in the Brisbane office. The role is primarily founded on contributing to and critically reviewing all large to major project tenders submitted across the Northern region. A proven history of identifying value adds and having a unique insight to enhance the offer and provide a commercial advantage.
You will be responsible for managing and developing a team of experienced estimators where this role will provide you with professional challenges and growth opportunity's all whilst working with a hardworking, dynamic and dedicated team.
Manage a successful team of estimators while still being able to get into the detail and perform 1st principal estimating when required. Expert Estimator
Client interface lead
Managing project delivery risk on large infrastructure projects, as well as providing in-depth knowledge of client systems and risk management frameworks ensures the timely delivery of high confidence risk-adjusted cost estimates.
Developing an effective team culture, with an ongoing effort to improve the quality of work and outputs.
Fostering a good working environment, engaging all team members to advance their skill sets and knowledge base.
Supporting and developing estimators at a detailed level
Identify commercial risks and advantages in the tendering process
Is detail orientated with the ability to undertake a critical overview of contract conditions and specifications, quantity verification, staging and methodology including temporary works, assessment of 'assumptions' made in the tender, quotes used, program and staffing
Has extensive knowledge of 'Roads and Bridges' construction as well as 'Rail','Water/Dams' and 'Renewable Energy'.
Holds credentials to represent our client in commercial conversations/interviews with clients.
Has demonstrated capability in managing multiple stakeholder relationships.
Formal qualifications in Civil Engineering.

Brisbane based role
To be successful:
Previous construction delivery experience: (ie ex Project Manager / Construction Manager / Senior Engineer or similar as there is a high degree of constructability in the service offering to ensure their advice is robust.
Experience in major infrastructure project will be required Rail, Roads, Bridges, Ports etc. $200m - $1bllion+
Strong working knowledge of Expert Estimation software
Must be able to lead a team of experienced senior estimators
Must be able to manage concurrent project assignments ie multi-task and operate across concurrent Clients and deadlines
Must have detailed civil infrastructure experience with a proven background in transport infrastructure projects experience
A strong passion and commitment to drive growth in the business
Candidate should be comfortable with client interface, verbal and written communication.
Cultural fit is key: Team player / Good leader with high emotional intelligence
Ideally a minimum of 10-15+ years civil estimating experience in a contractor environment.
Formal civil engineering qualification preferred
