Canberra Osteopathic Centre

We have an immediate vacancy for a receptionist to join our dynamic team at our busy osteopathic clinic. Monday, Tuesday & Thursday 8.30am-6.00pm, Friday 8.30am-5.30pm. Flexibility to cover holidays/sickness preferred. We are looking for a long term commitment of a minimum of two years.

Canberra Osteopathic Centre opened in Woden in 2013, expanding out of a home based clinic established in Canberra in 1995. It has an excellent reputation for delivering osteopathic care for all ages, from a few days old to octogenarians. We currently have 6 osteopaths, increasing to 7 in 2021.

There may be an opportunity in the coming months to also work in reception at our sister clinic, World of Wellbeing, which is located next door.

Skills/Experience Required

Personal experience of osteopathy is not essential but you will need to become familiar with the osteopathic philosophy and conditions we treat. 

You will be the first point of contact for our patients, whether on the phone or in person, so a welcoming, warm and engaging manner is vital.

At Canberra Osteopathic Centre we work as a team, with the same care and support for one another as for our patients. 

We see many babies and children, in addition to adults of all ages, so it is essential to be comfortable around children and be willing to look after babies if mum is having a treatment.

Computer literacy in Word and Excel is essential. We use Front Desk for our booking system (prior knowledge of this particular program is not essential) and receive many emailed inquiries from the website.

The ability to work under pressure and to manage priorities when the phone is ringing and patients are waiting to re-book and pay is a pre-requisite.

Duties and Responsibilities

Welcoming patients on arrival and marking up the patients file on the computer so practitioners know the patient has arrived.

Answering the phone in a friendly and professional manner: you are the ambassador for Canberra Osteopathic Centre.

Managing the computer appointment book, invoicing and receipting, providing statements when requested, scanning documents onto patient files.

Responding to email appointment requests as they come in.

Keeping the reception area tidy and clean, including vacuuming when necessary, ensuring water and glasses are available at all times.

Assisting the practice manager.
