About the Role In this role you will be working in the Building Services team to provide an effective and efficient service in relation to ensuring that swimming pools, spas and safety barriers are compliant with the building legislation as well as ensuring that commercial, industrial, public institutional, residential and ancillary buildings are assessed as required, taking the appropriate action as necessary. You will also be responsible for providing clients with a customer focused professional advisory service.
Key responsibilities include:
Ensuring that swimming pools, spas and safety barriers are compliant with the requirements of the Building Regulations including Building Amendment (Swimming Pool and Spas) Regulations 2019.
Assisting with the investigation and evaluation of building applications.
Ensuring that Statutory requirements, regulations and codes of practice are understood and applied consistently and fairly.
Participating in a program of inspections and field investigations to assist clients and to ensure fair and proper compliance with relevant legislation and policy.
Assisting in the coordination and input of various Government Departments and the General Public to meet deadlines as set.
This role will be required to participate in after hours on-call/availability service and roster overtime activities.
About you To be successful in this role, you will have:
Tertiary qualifications required to obtain registration as a Building Inspector
Current registration as a Building Practitioner, Category of Building Inspector (Swimming Pool Inspector as the minimum level of registration)
A proficient theoretical and practical knowledge and ability to interpret building and associated legislation and practices.
An understanding of the operation of Local Government and legal process within Victoria.
