Construction Manager - New Build Institutional Builder - Projects to $45M

The Role & Business

Reporting to the Group General Manager you will be responsible for the management of the new build construction of projects ranging $10 - $45M overseeing 3 existing project teams. Their core business is within the institutional sector covering health, aged care, secondary & tertiary education as well as religious buildings & car showrooms. Currently turning over more than $80M in this division alone and $250M as a group, you will be supported by a dedicated estimating team & Pre Construction Manager and be involved in the conversion of certain bids, part of a 'go/no go' strategy, mentoring of existing staff, developing existing Client relationships & overseeing the financial & quality performance of all projects. The current project teams are well resourced with relevant CA's, Cadets, Site Managers & Foremen in support and they benefit from your commercial industry experience to help take them to the next level.

The Builder have extensive construction experience across all major building spheres outside residential. They currently turnover more than $250M as a group with successful inter state offices, typically over service existing Clients and develop repeat business which generates more lucrative profit margins. They win their work through negotiated tender, ECI and Government panels as opposed to open tender and can look back upon Client relationships lasting more than a generation. They have an inclusive attitude towards employment and expect their staff to treat others with common manners and respect. They know who they are, feel their reputation attracts people to work for the business for the long term and are not looking to reinvent the wheel, rather evolve the business continually to ensure they stay ahead of current market trends.

Qualifications & Experience

  • You will be working as either a Construction Manager at present or as a Senior Project Manager with a Tier 2 commercial contractor
  • You will have experience in commercial / institutional new build projects $10M+ at minimum - purely residential projects will not be considered
  • Previously as a Project Manager, you will have delivered commercial new build projects between $5 - $15M in value
  • You will be able to demonstrate strong longevity of employment with recognised names in the NSW Construction market
  • You will have worked with leading systems such as Procore, Jobpac, Cheops, MS Project, Aconex etc
  • Any experience in pre-construction / Bid Management on D&C projects will be looked upon favourably
  • You will be able to produce strong references from key stakeholders including Clients, Employers & Subcontractors
  • A tertiary qualification in Construction will be of value but not essential
