Project Manager - Broken Hill Project

Initial 6 Month Contract, New Site - Broken Hill, Salary Negotiable.

Our client is working to develop a mining project in the years to come. The first stage is to construct and operate a pilot plant in Broken Hill.They are now seeking an experienced Project Manager to join their team.

To be considered for this position you will need to have the following but not limited to;

  • Current First Aid & CPR
  • Well-developed communication skills
  • Ability to interpret plans and drawings
  • Management and leadership ability
  • Problem-solving ability, hands-on approach, mechanical skills and knowledge
  • Familiar with processing equipment - tanks, agitators, filters, pumps etc
  • Able to manage and run aspects of overall project.
  • Previous experience in the management and delivery of projects, execution of work plans within shutdowns;
  • Mechanical Engineering / Trade qualification or, relevant technical background and experience;
  • A proven track record of site management with safety, contractor management and financial responsibilities (purchasing, checking received goods against invoice etc);
  • Promote a strong safety conscious culture with emphasis on zero tolerance for unsafe work practices.
  • Ensure all applicable HSE and Quality policies and procedure are effectively implemented.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills and experience - Team Leader, Leading Hand, Shift Leader etc;
  • Previous experience on maintenance and shutdown projects in a similar role is essential;
  • Strong written and oral communications skills, computer skills - MS Office, AutoCAD (not necessary but useful)
  • Ensure that the site is maintained in a tidy, safe and hazard free manner.
  • Ensure daily pre-start checks are performed and recorded prior to operation of all site plant equipment.
  • Ensure scheduled inspections, meetings and reviews are conducted and reported as per the site inspection program.
  • Ensure that all hazard, incidents and near misses are reported immediately and coordinating the most appropriate outcome.
  • Conduct and record weekly toolbox meetings, site inspections and job progress reviews.
  • Actively assist in any investigations, reviews, disciplinary meetings or performance reviews.
  • Ensure all company information is handled appropriately, including confidential material.

This role will be best suited to a motivated individual who is a natural leader with a strong focus on safety.

This position will be a 6 month contract initially with the view to role over to full time for the right person.

Salary and other benefits are negotiable.
