About the role
We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Support Officer (Gardens) to be appointed on full-time basis. This position will be primarily based at our Myrtle Bank War Veterans home and will offer support to all other sites of our organisation where required. As a member of the maintenance team you will be fit and healthy, have a can-do attitude and be ready for a fast-paced work environment. This position will work in with the Maintenance Officer Residential Care with direct reporting to the Facilities, Assets and Maintenance Manager
As Maintenance Support Officer (Gardens), you will be responsible for the delivery of a high standard of property services, including grounds keeping, preventative maintenance, general facilities support and repairs ensuring a comfortable and safe environment for our residents.
Conduct general gardening tasks as assigned by Facilities, Assets and Maintenance Manager
Ensure the garden areas are kept neat and tidy in accordance with the established routines
Inform manager if there is any unusual occurrence and/or damage that may have taken place or may occur
Monitor and repair site irrigation including conducting regular preventative maintenance
Using initiative in garden re-design, planting and mulching is expected
+ General Maintenance
Respond promptly to all maintenance and related requests by residents
Book and assist service providers and contractors required on the site
Annual preventative maintenance reporting
Ensure compliance will all relevant WHS policies and procedures
Skills and Experience
To be successful in your application, you will possess the following:
Previous experience in gardening or related field
Sound knowledge around irrigation systems installation, operation, and repairs.
The ability to safely use an assortment of gardening and construction power and hand tools
Operate in a safe environment by employing a high level of situational awareness and interpreting and adhering to RSL Care Sa safety policy and procedure
The ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with all residents
Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
The ability to solve problems independently and work autonomously
