Hedweld are seeking a full time Mechanical Draftsperson for a permanent opportunity, based at our Mount Thorley site.
This position is responsible for preparation of clear, complete and accurate working plans and detailed drawings from rough or detailed sketches, specifications, models or verbal instructions. Involved in projects including, product development, R&D and internal projects.
Including but not limited to:
Preparation and maintenance of design documentation including scope and design risk assessments.
Analyses product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine designs which can be produced by existing manufacturing facilities and methods.
Uses computer assisted drafting (CAD) equipment and software to design proposed drawing, checking dimension of parts, materials to be used, relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to whole structure or project.
Utilises knowledge of various products, machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences to complete drawings.
Liaises with customers and suppliers
Attends end user site when required to confirm measurements and / or verify designs
Prepares product and/or system layout and detailed drawings and schematics
Prepares and maintains bills of materials and associated manufacturing information
Checks engineering drawings and ensures they are of appropriate quality and conform to engineering principles, drawing standards, customer requirements and related specifications before being released for approval and construction
Research and development projects
Successful Applicant must have:
Trade and or Qualification in Drafting
Microsoft Office Suite Advanced
Specific software capabilities for Drafting Auto Cad, Auto Desk Inventor, etc.
3-5 years experience in drafting/engineering
Current Drivers License
Ability to work in both a Team environment and autonomously
Demonstrate excellent people management and communication skills
Experience in producing and cataloguing procedures and technical support documentation ideally within a heavy mechanical environment
Well-developed IT and associated software experience would be a given.
