National Customs Manager

Seaway is looking to place a National Customs Manager with extensive experience to be responsible for the development and ongoing management of our Customs Team. Joining our Leadership Team, you will have a strong sense of initiative, sound decision making skills and an outstanding ability to communicate well at all levels both internally and externally.

 

The Role

Reporting to our General Manager, Customs & International, this is a role that will suit a highly proactive and assertive individual with a demonstrable Customs Management background. We are seeking someone who can utilise their experience and knowledge to focus on managing all aspects of our Customs Team as well as the relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

 

Basic Responsibilities of this Role will Include:

  • Overall responsibility for the operational and financial success of the Customs Team
  • Conduct regular process reviews and audits
  • Proactive and regular engagement with key internal stakeholders to ensure needs are met
  • Ultimate responsibility for the Lodgement of Formal Import Declarations
  • Liaison with relevant Government Agencies
  • Managing to resolution complex classification and valuation challenges
  • Monitoring industry changes and developments

 

Required Experience and Knowledge:

  • Minimum 5 years previous experience in a Customs Broking Management position
  • A passion for the industry & the customs broker profession
  • Customs Brokers Licence (Current CPD & CBC required)
  • DAWE accredited (NCCC & AEPCOMM)
  • Good operational knowledge of CargoWise One
  • Strong tariff classification experience/knowledge
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong Excel reporting and functionalities experience
  • Excellent communication skills - written and verbal
  • A proactive and positive nature

 

Qualifications

  • Customs Broking Licence and CPDs.
  • Degree level qualification in International Trade or Supply Chain subjects are preferred but not essential
  • Suitable Management qualification preferred but not essential.
