Production Planner/Scheduler

Inorail are a solution based engineering and manufacturing company who specialise in custom built longwall pump stations and rail-bound transport and handling systems for underground mining and tunnelling applications. We are seeking an experienced Production Planner to join our team here in Beresfield.

THE POSITION

The Production Planner with be a passionate and results driven team member providing Manufacturing planning and work order management to the Production Services Department.

The overall objective of the role is to ensure all sales orders for new builds, repairs and overhauls are processed to the satisfaction of the Customer.

Together with the ability to successfully meet a variety of tight deadlines, you will be able to work under pressure whilst thinking logically and solving problems as they arise.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate production workflow for one or multiple production operations.
  • Review Engineering drawings and identify requirements for manufacture/assembly.
  • Review contract specifications for deadlines & requirements.
  • Analyse production specifications and plant capacity to determine manufacturing processes and human resource requirements.
  • Schedule workload to ensure production due dates are achieved.
  • Conduct daily Toolbox talks to assign tasks to shop floor staff.
  • Follow company procedures for planning & scheduling and recommend improvements to current methods.
  • Obtain and monitor output information(percentage complete, defects and rework, on time delivery)
  • Prepare and submit job status reports to senior management.
  • Address issues when they arise aiming for minimum disruption.
  • Expedite operations that delay schedules and amend schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
  • Work in conjunction with the Purchasing Team in relation to suppliers, contractors and subcontractors.
  • Communicate and follow up deadlines to all internal departments.
  • Prepare & update Gantt Charts, utilising all tools available within MS Project.
  • Prepare & review work scopes for service repairs.
  • Assist in capturing "as-built" changes to each job.
  • Communicate with all contractors, suppliers & subcontractors to keep planning and manufacturing on target.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Undertake designated administrative duties are required.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Diploma of Production Management or Graduate Certificate in Enterprise & Resource Planning.
  • Proven previous experience in a planning role preferably in mining or heavy industry.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge in a mechanical engineering field.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Good working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative, self-motivation and the ability to problem solve.
  • High level of interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to exercise sound judgement and decision making.
  • Fluent spoken English.
  • Australian Citizenship.
