Unico Australia has a niche focus on the engineering and manufacturing of motor control and pump systems suitable for upstream oil and gas. Key products include application specific variable speed AC drives and rod pump systems.
The position is required to apply mechanical engineering design expertise to new product development, research & development and product sustaining projects from concept to launch whilst complying to cost criteria, timescales and specifications set by the business.
You will be engaged in global projects and design engineering challenges focussed on artificial lift equipment used on wells in the production of oil and gas. You will be central to the mechanical engineering function for development projects for rod pumping systems and other types or rotating machines used in the extraction of oil and gas.
You will not only work with the local Australian team but a strong connection with our global teams throughout the UK, Canada, Columbia, Middle East and our headquarters in Wisconsin, USA.
What Youll Do
Be the lead mechanical engineer and project manager on assigned projects.
Produce or manage the production of all relevant documentation for assigned projects.
Work with Commercial to ensure that Design Specifications correctly outline project intentions.
Use CAD / solidworks to create or modify 3D models of parts and assemblies to evaluate design proposals.
Create or modify models and drawings for components and assemblies.
Assemble prototype units of new products.
Design, build and monitor testing of product for engineering projects.
Address product design issues presented to the team or noticed during daily activities.
Provide technical knowledge on engineering challenges.
Lead and support FMEA activities as required.
Support Production through pre-production activities relating to the launch of new products.
The successful applicant will possess:
A relevant professional Australian accredited Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical)
10+ years Autocad / Solidworks experience
10+ years experience in a product design or product development role
Knowledge of current steel fabrication equipment and processes
Excellent problem-solving skill, with ability to provide a pragmatic solution
High level of communication skills, with ability to deliver clear and concise messages to the business and external stakeholders
An innovative thinker
Self-accountability and commitment to professional development and continuous improvement
CPEng/RPEQ certification advantageous
