ARTRAGE Business Manager


ARTRAGE Inc. is a non-for-profit registered charity and Western Australian arts and cultural organisation. 

Since 1983 ARTRAGE has developed and presented hundreds of key cultural events and festivals, including most recently Rooftop Movies (est. 2012), Girls School (est. 2018) and FRINGE WORLD Festival (est. 2011). 

FRINGE WORLD Festival is the largest annual event staged in Western Australia and the third largest Fringe Festival in the world in terms of tickets sold. The Festival is produced by ARTRAGE, a not-for-profit incorporated association that has been at the forefront of developing arts and culture in Western Australia since 1983. 

Alongside the annual Festival, ARTRAGE produces and manages a number of other arts and entertainment enterprises that increase the scale and breadth of the organisation's reach including an outdoor cinema that runs throughout the summer and Girls School.

About the role

The ARTRAGE Business Manager will bring experience, expertise, organisational skills, innovation and forward thinking to the financial and delivery of each department's aims. 

The role of the Business Manager is required for Parental leave cover for the ARTRAGE Business Director. 

The proposed start date for the position is in the week commencing 17 January 2021. 

Contract Details 

Salary: Salary package information available upon request. 

Contract Period: 17 January 2021 14 September 2021 with the possibility of extension 

Working Hours: Part-time (22.8 hours per week) Fixed Term Parental Leave Cover for 6 months with possibility of extension 

Due to the nature of this role, the successful applicant may be required to work reasonable additional hours during peak operational periods. 

Working Location: The role is based at the ARTRAGE office in Northbridge, with time spent at Girls School, East Perth and other Festival locations in and around Perth as required. 

Reports to: CEO 

Direct Reports: ARTRAGE Finance Coordinator, Administration Coordinator 

Works alongside: ARTRAGE Executive, Finance, Programming, Production, Technical, Marketing, Partnerships and Administration and IT teams. 


Key Accountabilities, Skills & Experience 

The roles and responsibilities detailed below are applied to all ARTRAGE Inc projects. 

Finance (Essential) 

  • Oversee the planning, development, and delivery of: 
  • ARTRAGE policies, procedures, and reporting system for all ARTRAGE financial operations 
  • Financial processing as completed by the Finance Coordinator 
  • Monthly reporting to the CEO for provision to the Board 
  • The annual budgeting processes 
  • The annual interim and final Audit process 
  • All sales and settlement reconciliations 
  • Ad hoc financial analysis and reporting 
  • Grant acquittals and submissions (where required by the Partnerships Manager) 
  • Experience in MYOB Advanced (favourable) and Microsoft Office suite, including strong Excel skills 

Compliance (Essential) 

  • Oversee the planning, development, and delivery of: 
  • Registration Management for the businesses including those relating to the NFP status of ARTRAGE 
  • Insurance renewals and claims management for the organisation 

HR (Favourable) 

  • Oversee the planning, development, and delivery of: 
  • Fortnightly payroll payments including leave management and reporting 
  • HR Assistance to staff as required 
  • HR assistance to Managers to assist in resolving staffing issues including performance management issues 
  • HR representation at meetings as required 
  • Annual Performance Reviews as coordinated by the Finance Coordinator
