Your New Employer is a global leader in quality products and solutions for specialist fluid transfer applications. This innovative company has built its reputation over the past 40 years, partnering with clients all over the globe. Due to solid growth in the company in recent years, and particularly in 2020 as a supplier to essential industries, they are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer in their Melbourne headquarters.
In your new role you will join the established small team of engineers and sub professionals (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronic, and Drafting) that designs new products and enhances existing ones, on spec and on time. You will work through your designs to customer specifications and manufacturability, ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards, and cost estimations. You will also progress your designs through to manufacture and customer site installation by project managing and coordinating with your customers, in house production and manufacturing and installation teams.
You will be a degree qualified Mechanical Engineer with experience that includes at least 3 years' experience in mechanical design. You will be competent and innovative with your designs and be well versed in mechanical computations such as 3D modelling and FEA on structural designs and have proficient CAD skills with AutoCAD Inventor 2D and 3D, working to AS1100. You will have worked in a low to medium volume manufacturing environment and be comfortable with product standardisation concepts. You will also be well skilled in the preparation of BOMs and MRP related documentation and have had some experience in supporting your product designs into production from both engineering and production perspectives. Some sheet metal, fabrication and piping, pumps and valve specification, fluid dynamics and fuel systems would be well regarded. A good background or educational understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics is also expected, and some exposure to electrical systems and heavy vehicle manufacture would be a plus. Good communication skills for customer interaction, both written and oral, are mandatory.
