Our Somerton site is located a short distance north of the Melbourne CBD where we currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, trade qualified fitter/boilermaker or dual-qualified tradesperson - fitter/electrician - to join our maintenance team.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role is responsible for assisting with the ongoing preventative, predicative and breakdown maintenance of the plant in a safe and efficient manner. To enable the production to achieve budgeted productivity goals.
A prerequisite for this position is Certificate III in Mechanical Engineering, only candidates with this qualification will be shortlisted
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Applicants should be able to demonstrate experience in;
- Maintenance of industrial plant and equipment, for example, shredders, granulators, screening plant and equipment, bagging systems, conveyer maintenance
- Gearbox removal,
- Bearing removal & refit
- Fabrication chutes, ducting, pipework repairs
- Welding (manual metal arc, MIG, TIG) of heavy duty structures
- Oxy Cutting, mid heavy gauge steel
- Interpreting Engineering drawings
- Fault finding and diagnostic skills
Experience in the following areas would be an advantage:
- Plasma cutting light medium steel
- Crack preparation and repair
- Forklift license
- EWP licence/ticket
- Confined Space ticket
- Experience in working with cranes including riggers ticket
- First Aid certificate
It is envisaged that the candidate will be able to demonstrate a minimum of 3-5 years experience in a Manufacturing, Mining and or Recycling industry environment(s).
The successful candidate will have obtained the following qualifications & licenses;
- Cert 3 Mechanical Engineering

This position requires the ability to work flexible hours with some overtime, including potential weekend work, call-back. Some interstate work may also be expected.
