We are looking for a vibrant and proactive part-time Media & Communications Officer to join our team at the Hunter Joint Organisation (JO). This is a key role within the organisation, working closely with our Executive Team to deliver our Communications & Engagement Strategy, and supporting delivery of the Hunter JOs strategic priorities.
As the Media & Communications Officer you will be a self-starter; able to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment. You will be able to prioritise to reach deadlines and work well within a team.

The Hunter Joint Organisation (Hunter JO) is the hub for local government collaboration, striving to strengthen communities by facilitating evidence-based strategic outcomes for the Region. A progressive and visionary organisation, the Hunter JO creates and has input on a diverse range of projects that are both imperative and interesting. Its principal functions include:
Regional strategic planning and priority setting
Shared regional leadership and advocacy
Drafting and creation of communications collateral for web, print and online, including copywriting
Coordinate with the Hunter JO Regional Policy & Programs Executive Support & Programs Officer to collect and collate stories from the division for the Hunter JO Corporate Newsletter, website, and social media channels
Engage with partners and other stakeholders within the Hunter JOs member councils, including communications teams
Assist in delivering communications campaigns and ensuring branding consistency across the Hunter JO Regional Policy & Programs Division
Assist with the development and execution of digital communications across relevant platforms
Data collation and reporting on communications and media activity related to the Hunter JO and its member councils
Skills and Experiences:
Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Media, Marketing or a related discipline;
Copywriting and editing skills, including experience in writing publications, newsletters and online content
Demonstrated high-level interpersonal skills to liaise with internal and external stakeholders through verbal and written communication methods
Ability to prioritise effectively and work flexibly within a fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently, and to exercise initiative and problem-solving skills
Proven experience with Wordpress and other web platforms, including Facebook & LinkedIn
Current NSW C Class Drivers Licence
