Band 6 $86,199 to $93,960 plus 9.5% Super

Based in the St Kilda Town Hall and during COVID-19 Pandemic, with Executive Leadership Team/DHHS direction, this role is able to work from home and is predominantly based online, except on Sundays when you will be based on the Upper Esplanade   

About the Organisation 

The City of Port Phillip is an inner-city Council with around 900 employees who deliver more than 100 programs and services to our residents, businesses and visitors. These range from events and festivals, markets, childcare and immunisations, to libraries, management of parks and open space, rubbish collection, road maintenance and more.  

About the Role

Do you have strong vision to deliver a sustainable market, support businesses and reactivate public space for Port Phillips communities We seek a confident, enthusiastic communicator with the ability to work at pace to deliver a large program of work with huge success. You will be a strong team player who supports the Head of Economic Growth and Activation, St Kilda Esplanade Market Manager, Business Concierge, Senior Public Space Coordinator and Industry Development Coordinator.

The primary objective of the City Growth and Culture Department is to support economic growth through business support and the reactivation of public space, and promotion of the many unique neighbourhoods in the City of Port Phillip. 

This is important at all times but even more so post-COVID-19, as our local community, spaces and businesses will be important as our community recovers from COVID-19, culturally, socially, environmentally and economically. As the Economic Growth and Activation Officer you will participate in and manage the planning and delivery of strategic initiatives with the Economic Growth and Activation team within the City of Port Phillip. 

Duties

Serve as a single point of contact for businesses who have enquiries on how Council could support them and triage these to other Economic Growth and Activation team members and other areas of Council such as Footpath Trading and Events, if needed 

Play your part to advocate within the Organisation for the needs of business in terms of policies, process and their development, to remove red tape

St Kilda Esplanade Market administration including Pathway, Market inbox, chasing debtors etc two weekdays per week

Managing the Market on site every second Sunday (one less weekday will be worked each fortnight and this will be slightly flexible regarding which tasks you complete on which weekday)

Weekly website updates to lovemyplace.com.au and Market website 

Skills and Experience 

Experience in: an administrative, facility management, property maintenance, market, events, hospitality or retail role;

Computer programs such as Pathway; Social Media platforms and websites.

Building strong stakeholder relationships; ability to function as a member of a small team in a high pressure, service-based environment; and the ability to manage challenging stakeholders.

Delivering exceptional customer service will be a driving factor in your professional life.

Flexibility to work 38 hours/week including weekends and irregular weekday hours due to the nature of the role and meeting the needs of our communities
