Act for Kids is a prominent provider of free prevention, professional therapy and support services for children who have suffered abuse and support for families at risk. With over 25 centres nationally, we have supported thousands of children and their families for more than 30 years. In 2019 - 2020 we provided services to 44,894 people, including over 29,000 children.
Our unique multidisciplinary teams provide integrated therapy, sexual abuse counselling, safe houses in remote Indigenous communities, information, advice and referral services, intensive family support and preschools designed for children with additional development needs to ensure we set them up for success at school.
About the job...
We are seeking a dynamic and highly organised Accountant to join our Corporate Services team based in Milton. Reporting to the Finance & Business Analytics Manager, this ongoing full-time position will support and deliver on a broad range of accounting, financial and reporting activities, including but not limited to:
Prepare timely and accurate end of month financial reports for Act for Kids controlled entities.
Process all payroll, superannuation and related transactions in a timely and accurate manner for Act for Kids controlled entities.
Review and ensure accuracy of all approved payroll workflows including timesheets, leave application and change of employment details.
Prepare and lodge statutory returns including BAS, IAS, income tax and WorkCover for Act for Kids controlled entities in a timely and accurate manner.
Maintain and update asset register and depreciation schedules for the Act for Kids controlled entities.
Ensure that all accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions and payments are processed timely and accompanied by valid supporting documentations.
Ensure that all accounts payable and accounts receivable officers and fundraising database support officers understand and adhere to financial policies and procedures through training, supervision and support.
Tertiary accounting qualification is essential.
Completion of the CA or CPA Program, or working towards.
At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
Experience in using the accounting system Xero is advantageous.
Current knowledge of accounting standards, principles and practice.
Current knowledge of GST, PAYG and income tax legislation.
Accuracy, attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
Highly developed written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
