Glenelg Golf Club is one of Adelaide's leading private golf clubs with a vision to be one of the premier golf clubs in Australia. Rated within the top 50 Courses nationally, our club has recently been chosen amongst 25 golf clubs in Australia to participate in a one-year trial of a sustainable golf project run by the GEO Foundation.
The horticulturist is expected to maintain the golf course garden and vegetation areas to a high-presentation standard and ensure vegetation does not disrupt or interfere with play. The incumbent will also undertake greenkeeping duties as required.
Responsibilities include a range of works:
control of weeds using chemical, mechanical and manual methods
identification of indigenous plants and weeds
assist with the development & implementation of Course Biodiversity & Riparian Management Plans
turf management duties, not limited to mowing, bunker maintenance and general course set up for play.
To be considered for this position, you will
have a background in the nursery industry, landscaping, garden maintenance or turf management
ability to work autonomously and identify required work schedules
be willing to start early in the morning and work flexible hours, including some rostered weekend work
have a desire learn about golf and have a holistic approach to vegetation and course maintenance
possess a keen eye for presentation of garden areas
have demonstrated ability to be courteous towards our members and present a positive image of our team
enjoy working outdoors and have an interest in indigenous vegetation.
