This is an opportunity to work for a dynamic not-for-profit organisation delivering multi-million dollar projects, focussed on achieving positive environmental and agricultural land-management outcomes in the South West of WA. Collaboration is key to everything we do and we work extensively with a range of stakeholders, spanning government, private enterprise, universities, other NFPs and the community. South West Catchment Council (SWCC) is a cohesive team of c15 individuals but with a network of natural resource management organisations as Association Members.
The role of the Communications Manager is to facilitate and maintain strong relationships and effective two-way communication between SWCC and our various stakeholders.
This includes but is not limited to; managing SWCCs branding, media, website, monthly e-newsletter, facilitating key SWCC engagement events, supporting the South West Landcare network in their engagement initiatives, and assisting SWCC staff and external stakeholders in graphic design and general engagement.
Contribute to the development of the SWCC Communications and Engagement Strategy and manage its implementation.
Facilitate communication, collaboration and the sharing of information between Association Members and other stakeholders via SWCCs communication tools.
Manage the delivery and promotion of SWCC events and promotion of other key landcare and community events
Develop media release content and distribution and respond to all media requests in a timely manner.
Ensure SWCCs social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn are actively managed and engaging content is regularly shared.
Maintain the swccnrm.org.au and southwestsnapshot.com.au websites and create engaging content in collaboration with SWCC staff and relevant stakeholders.
Publish the South West Link e-newsletter on a monthly basis via Mail Chimp.
Design the Annual Report in consultation with CEO, relevant staff and consultants.
Maintain SWCC templates and brand guidelines.
Effective project delivery to ensure expenditure is within budget and project milestones are met.
Where SWCC community engagement activities fall on weekends and/or evenings, assist the SWCC team in a capacity determined between you, the SWCC CEO and relevant staff.
Displays a commitment to excellence by ensuring services provided are of a high quality and follow best practice.
Identifies, suggests and implements organisation improvement strategies.
Additional duties as assigned by the CEO.
A tertiary qualification (or approved equivalent) in one of the following: Communications; Public relations; Social, Agricultural or Earth sciences; or significant relevant experience in community engagement, communications, and/or natural resource management.
Demonstrated skills and experience in the management and development of corporate communications such as newsletters, annual reports and websites, including management of graphic design and print.
Media management, maintaining effective relationships with journalists, and the development and distribution of press releases leading to positive media outcomes.
Project management of community based events from concept planning through to delivery and evaluation.
Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with a range of stakeholders from school children, community groups, local governments, state, and commonwealth officials, using varied methods appropriate to the audience.
Residency or eligibility to legally work in Australia.
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software or similar.
Current C Class Drivers License or better.
The position is based in the Bunbury office, working part time 0.6 FTE.
Driving is an essential duty of this position. Occasional weekend and evening work is required to carry out community engagement activities.
This role is to cover a maternity leave contract for 6 months.
