We are currently seeking an experienced Construction Manager on a fixed term contract to the end of 2021 to join the team at the NewGen Power Kwinana (NPK) Station, which is one of Western Australias largest, newest, cleanest, and most advanced power plants. The 320MW, combined-cycle, gas-fired power station, located 30km south of Perth in the Kwinana Industrial Estate, has the capacity to supply 10 per cent of the state's energy needs.
The Construction Manager will contribute to the success of NewGen Power Kwinana by strategically managing and driving projects to achieve commercial objectives within agreed budget and time constraints. They will be responsible for preparing technical and conformance specifications defining project scopes of work and contract requirements for Suppliers.
Provide technical advice and support to the management team
Understand the scope and needs of engineering projects and develop the project design strategy within financial budget guidelines
Review product design for compliance and safety
Organise and lead HAZOP and CHAZOP workshops
Take a technical leadership role in Supplier bid evaluations and selection of Suppliers
Schedule and lead engineering design reviews for all supplier provided equipment
Review designs, drawings and all project documentation
Assure the final delivered project is technically compliant
Provide coordination of the engineering and drafting design Suppliers
Identify critical engineering issues and manage the process of developing delivery strategies that have a sound technical and commercial orientation
Ensure project engineering deadlines and cost targets are met and communicated on a timely manner
Deliver planning, design and project management services
Develop appropriate systems and methodologies to manage and control the project life cycle
Attend minor and major progress reviews throughout the life of the project
Review of all progress reports submitted by the groups involved in the project
Performing project or task management functions as delegated by the Project Manager
Controlling, monitoring and reporting performance against budget and schedule
Actively drive safety in design principles and HAZOP findings
Qualifications and Experience:
Engineering degree is a requirement of this role
Significant experience in the power industry or heavy industry conducting an Engineering function
Minimum of 5 years of experience with major project. Power Station experience would be an advantage
Construction Management experience required
High attention to detail and the ability to work logically, consistently and accurately
Have a proactive and motivated approach to identify areas of improvement and problem solve
High level of interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work autonomously, with minimal supervision
Have a high regards towards safety and contribute to a positive HSE culture
